FAQ's

What is Skills Assist?

Skills Assist is a service designed to help you build the skills to manage your own NDIS supports effectively. It’s not about doing everything for you, but empowering you to take charge with guidance and confidence.

How does Skills Assist work?

We work side-by-side with you through four key stages:

  1. Understanding your needs
We start by discussing your goals, challenges, and the kind of support you’re looking for.
  2. Creating a personalised plan
Together, we set realistic goals and identify the key skills you’d like to develop, such as navigating providers, budgeting, or making service bookings.
  3. Working together
We support you to be actively involved in every decision and action, helping you gain practical, hands-on experience in managing your supports.
  4. Reviewing and wrapping up
Once your goals are achieved, we review your progress with you. When you feel ready to manage things independently, our support concludes.
What kind of skills can I learn through Skills Assist?

You can develop skills in areas such as:

  • Understanding and using your NDIS plan

  • Communicating with service providers

  • Budgeting and managing your funding

  • Making and managing service bookings

Who is eligible for Skills Assist?

Anyone with NDIS Core funding can access Skills Assist. You don’t need Capacity Building funding to take part.

How much does Skills Assist cost?

Skills Assist is funded through your Core budget at $80.06 per hour.
This means:

  • No separate Capacity Building budget is required.

  • You can still access Skills Assist even if your Support Coordination funds are depleted.

When does the support end?

When you’ve achieved your goals and feel confident managing your supports on your own, we review your progress and finalise the support.
