At Skylight we believe in the importance of providing the local community with opportunities to learn and increase understanding of a range of matters related to mental health. To ensure we continue to do this we have developed a new series of community forums which will provide you with the knowledge and insight into a variety mental health topics across a wider range of locations.
Beginning in September, we will begin delivering forums across the whole metropolitan area and including Murray Bridge forums into our regular schedule. We have partnered with the Len Beadall Library in Salisbury to host our first forum in the northern suburbs on Wednesday September 6th. Our forums will also be hosted from Skylight Parnangga, at Christies Beach and Skylight Wayville with our first Murray Bridge forum being held in October at the Murray Bridge Library. Forums will be run on a quarterly basis at each location so if you can't make it to the local Forum in your area there will be an opportunity for you to attend it in another region.
The last Forum of each quarter will be hosted at Skylight Wayville and will feature a panel of guest speakers with lived experience, carers, and leading experts in the sector who will provide unique perspectives, offer helpful strategies, and discuss effective approaches to recovery. We aim to make these as interactive as possible with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and engage directly in the conversation. The lived experience perspective has always been a highly valued part of the work we do at Skylight, and we will continue to provide opportunities to learn from someone who has lived through it and understands the challenges that can arise, along with the potential for growth.
If you would like to attend one of our Community Forums please register to attend as places are limited. Our next forum is 'Understanding Mental Illness & Substance Use'. Bookings are available online by
