Visit from The Honourable John Dawkins MLC

In the early evening of Monday 4 May 2020, Skylight Mental Health had a visit from the Hon John Dawkins MLC to acknowledge and thank the staff delivering two essential services, the COVID-19 Mental Health Peer Support line (CMHPS) and the Lived Experience Telephone Support Service (LETSS).

The CMHPS is a new, short term, peer-led support line to help all South Australians deal with any emotional distress around the COVID19 pandemic or its consequences.  Skylight Mental Health conducts this service with funding from SA Health and Wellbeing via the Chief Psychiatrist’s Office.

The COVID-19 Mental Health Peer Support line operates 7 days a week from 5:00 PM til 11:30 PM and can be reached via 1800 02 2020, or via www.skylight.org.au/covid-19-support-line for web chat.

The LETSS service is an ongoing program, which offers a caring voice over the phone to support people with mental health conditions and to assist people to link to appropriate services.  The LETSS service focusses on metro Adelaide and is operated by the Links to Wellbeing consortium, managed by Skylight Mental Health and funded by the Adelaide Primary Health Network.

LETSS operates between 5:00 PM and 11:30 PM, 365 days a year, and can be reached via 1800 013 755 or www.letss.org.au for web chat.

Skylight Mental Health has a long history of championing the value of staff with a lived experience in our workforce and we are committed to creating and developing services that include people of varied experience and training in diverse roles in the organization.

The COVID-19 Mental Health Peer Support Line and the Lived Experience Telephone Support Service are both free and easy to access. If you, or someone you know could benefit from either of these services please feel free to make contact.
